On August 18 - 19th 2001, several SKH Quest Center members travelled to Bloomington, Indiana to visit Professor Norbu's Tibetan Cultural Center and assist with fall painting and clean-up.
An-shu Stephen K. Hayes served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Tibetan Cultural Center. He and several of his top students have assisted with security at the TCC during visits from Nobel Peace Prize Winner the Dalai Lama of Tibet.
Below is the text of a letter from Rinpoche Thubten J. Norbu, elder brother of the Dalai Lama, thanking the volunteers.
A thank you letter from Rinpoche Thubten J. Norbu:
On this Sunday, August 19th, 2001, I was so happy and pleased to see many friends and new friends helping out on painting the Janchub Chorten, Kalachakra stupa, the main building, cleaning inside and outside and weeding around the whole center. After all the painting and cleaning it was also a pleasure to have our two resident monks reconsecrate the chorten with all of you present.
I personally would like to thank all those who came out to help us on Sunday, especially Stephen Hayes and his students, who made a donation and donated all the paints and supplies for this event. Also my eldest son Lhundrup Norbu, who worked hard a week before prepping and cleaning the whole areas of the building and stupas.
Thank you all for keeping the faith and support of the Tibetan Cultural Center.
